GREENLAND - A two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth proved to be the difference Thursday in East Poinsett County’s 6-3 win over Parkers Chapel in the first round of the 2A State Softball Tournament.
El Dorado leads a strong contingent of Union County athletes who qualified for the prestigious Meet of Champions, which will be held Wednesday at Russellville.
Parkers Chapel’s Kallie Martin accomplished a double, three-peat at the 2A State Track & Field Championships Tuesday in Quitman. The junior did it in record-setting fashion.
Martin went 17-1 to win the long jump title for the third year in a row. And, she set a new 2A state record with a 37-0¾ in the triple jump for her third state title in that event.
Smackover will travel to Prescott Tuesday to compete in the 3A State Track & Field Championships. Parkers Chapel and Junction City will compete in the 2A State Track & Field Championships Tuesday in Quitman.
