PCMC) Mangesh Chitale has issued a show-cause notice to education officer Jyotsna Shinde, allegedly involved in a recruitment scam earlier, for sanctioning procurement of notebooks worth Rs 2.5 crore without permission of the standing committee or releasing a tender.

In yet another major development to the shocking multi-crore teachers’ recruitment scam, the Pune sessions court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail applications of 27 accused, including
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) education officer Meenakshi Raut, and retired education director Ramchandra Jadhav.
The development took place after the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) submitted its report opposing the bail applications on the same day. This is just days after teachers’ union leader Sambhaji Shirsath was arrested by the EOW as a prime accused in the matter on January 16.
