Open. This accident happened right before 5 30 in the middle of the afternoon commute. It turned traffic into a nightmare and seriously injured a chp officer. The afternoon traffic is bad on a good day, but now it was made worse. I had to get off the freeway. One was hoping hopefully it would die down but it didnt die down. Reporter a van swerved in front of a chp motorcycle officer traveling on the lane at 50 to 60 miles per hour. The reason, whether he made a voluntary lane change or force out by another vehicle is still being investigated. Reporter all lanes were immediately shut down allowing a medivac helicopter and transported the officer to the hospital. Unfortunately in this area there are no secondary routs. Reporter despite serious injuries, the chp officer is expected to live. They hope to learn more from the officer after speaking to him in the hospital.
