Bishop Brandon B. Porter
Born to Mrs. Ida M. Porter and the late Bishop W. L. Porter on December 16, 1958, Bishop Brandon B. Porter graduated from the University of Memphis, formerly Memphis State University, with a major in Rehabilitation of Public Offenders and a minor in Criminal Justice.
Bishop Porter accepted his call to ministry in 1976 and was ordained an elder in 1978 by Bishop J.O. Patterson, Sr. Bishop Porter began his pastorate at Greater Allen Avenue COGIC in 1978; and in 1981, he was appointed pastor of Greater Victory Temple COGIC (both in Jackson, TN). In 1986, he was appointed District Superintendent. In 1991, he was appointed Pastor of Greater Community Temple (GCT) COGIC in Memphis – now “One Church in Two Locations.” Under his leadership, GCT has grown and expanded to 5,000+ members and continues to progress in excellence and outreach.
