Flying Agent takes out Scotty Stewart Brierly Steeplechase
A fast finishing Flying Agent flew to the line in the 2021 3YB FM Scotty Stewart Brierly Steeplechase, to claim trainer Amy McDonald her first win at the carnival.
The pre-race favourite stormed to the front with Darryl Horner (jnr) aboard, overtaking 2019 winner Bit Of A Lad on the final straight, to win by two and a half lengths.
Speaking to racing.com following the race, McDonald said it was a relief after a nervous day. He s amazing, I can t thank the owners enough to show the faith and send him over, and everyone that s had a bit to do with it, just amazing she said.
Vaccination program expands to include over 50s
The Nation s vaccination program has this week expanded, meaning anyone over the age of 50 is now eligible to receive their AstraZeneca vaccine.
South West Healthcare s Warrnambool vaccination centre will receive its largest quantity yet of AstraZeneca this week, allowing 500 people to be vaccinated between 9am–4.30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Algae Detected in Curdies River Estuary and Yambuk Lakes
High, toxic Blue-green Algae levels have been detected in the Curdies River Estuary at Peterborough and the Yambuk Lakes at Yambuk.
Warning signs have been installed at both locations and authorities are urging people to avoid direct contact with the water until the bloom disperses, including allowing pets to enter the water.
The sample point for Curdies River is at the Peterborough boat ramp. Lake Yambuk is sampled from the boat ramp side of the floating jetty on Carrolls Road.
Recreational activities of any type should be avoided at impacted locations, including swimming, fishing and boating activities.
