Judge sentences 21 for criminal offenses

AUBURN — Judge Adam Squiller sentenced 21 people for criminal offenses during hearings in DeKalb Superior Court I this week. Miguel Cuevas of the 2400 block of Lafayette Street, Fort Wayne, was sentenced to eight days in jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor. He received credit for four days served while the case was pending. He was fined $100, and his driving license was suspended for 20 days. Kodi Schambers of the 4600 block of Willard West Road, Willard, Ohio, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, all suspended except four days, for resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor. He received credit for two days served in jail while the case was pending and was placed on probation for 180 days.

Justin Moreno of the 7800 block of South Wayne Street, Hamilton, received a pair of two-year sentences, all suspended except 540 days, for domestic battery and residential entry, both Level 6 felonies. The sentences will be served at the same time. He was placed on probation for the balance of the sentence. Devin Hickman of the 4100 block of C.R. 39, Auburn, was sentenced to one year of incarceration, all suspended except four days, for operating a vehicle with an unlawful alcohol concentration, a Class A misdemeanor, and 90 days of incarceration, all suspended, for resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony. The sentences will be served at the same time. He was placed on probation for 361 days and was fined $100. His driving license was suspended for 180 days. He received credit for two days he served in jail while the case was pending.

Bernard Evon of the 7800 block of Campbell Street, Taylor, Michigan, was sentenced to 180 days in jail, all suspended except 10 days, for operating a vehicle with an unlawful alcohol concentration, a Class A misdemeanor. He was placed on probation for 355 days and was fined $200. His driving license was suspended for 120 days. Shelby Riedel of the 5700 block of C.R. 327, Garrett, was sentenced to 180 days in jail, all suspended except 18 days, for domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. She received credit for nine days she served in jail while the case was pending. She was placed on probation for 340 days.
