He had an appointment the next morning to get a COVID-19 vaccine at the city s first mass vaccination clinic.  The 76-year-old drove up after it opened at 8 a.m. and was waved into a line of cars flowing slowly but steadily through a temporary chain-link fence. He drove along a line of volunteers, making choreographed stops. First, his appointment paperwork was checked. At the next checkpoint, he was given a surgical mask. A few feet farther, a volunteer went over possible side effects.
