Now the police are going out on golf carts and hired by private businesses. They are off duty san jose cops working private patrol in a golf cart instead of a police cruiser. Its so quiet. Its a boots on the ground presence with sworn armed officers who respond to things like graffiti enforcement and street crimes things the on duty san jose pd used to do but cant because of short staffing. What happened is that theres a group from public works, the City Public Works Department that comes out and helps Homeless People get into shelters. They were talking to a man and he apparently did not want to go into a shelter. At some point, the public works folks called the Police Department and said the man had a large knife and that he was acting in a threatening manner. The next Forward Fest takes place Feb. 20 and will focus on alumni whose life work illuminates the themes of exploration and resilience.
