The National Weather Service (NWS) issued storm warnings from Virginia to Maine home to tens of millions of people as heavy snow mixed with wind gusts up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) per hour spurred blizzards along the eastern seaboard.

A huge snowstorm has brought chaos to the US east coast, cancelling thousands of flights, closing schools and forcing the postponement of coronavirus vaccinations as New York City braced for possibly one of its heaviest snowfalls.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued storm warnings from Virginia to Maine - home to tens of millions of people - as heavy snow mixed with wind gusts up to 80km/h produced blizzard-like conditions along the eastern seaboard.
New York declared a state of emergency that restricted non-essential travel, moved all children back to remote learning and rescheduled long-awaited vaccine shots.

A massive winter storm has pummelled the US east coast, grounding flights, shuttering vaccination sites and bringing New York City to a standstill.
By Monday afternoon as much as 19in (48cm) of snow had already fallen in parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and 17in (43cm) in New York City.
New York City and New Jersey have both declared a state of emergency.
The US National Weather Service said the storm will move up to New England, before tapering off on Tuesday.
Wind gusts of up to 50mph (80km/h) are also forecast for several days creating a blinding, blowing snow storm.

A winter storm is impacting nearly 70 million Americans, pummeling major cities with snow, including New York City, Philadelphia and Boston. The storm warnings currently stretch from northern Georgia to Maine.
So far, northern and central New Jersey have already been hit with nearly 2 feet of snow and another foot could fall by Tuesday evening.
Heavy snow, gusts topping 60 mph and white-out conditions have caused numerous accidents and grounded more than 1,600 from Washington, D.C., to Boston. The storm has also knocked out power and forced COVID-19 vaccination sites to shut down across D.C., Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
