A dog was rescued from a fire that tore through a Westerleigh home Monday afternoon, and a resident was able to escape the blaze unscathed. Flames could be seen shooting out of the attic of the home, located at 789 Willow Road West, as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control. The fire is suspected to have started from an air conditioner in the rear of the structure before traveling to the inside of the house, an FDNY official on scene told the Advance/SILive.com.

The blaze prompted an “all-hands” response of 60 firefighters and 12 units at around 6:37 p.m. to 24 Davis Ct., according to an official from the FDNY press office. Numerous FDNY vehicles lined Davis Avenue near the small, narrow dead end street where the fire occurred, and multiple other trucks squeezed onto Davis Court to reach the home. The second floor of the residence appeared to sustain interior damage.
