As the smoke starts to clear in some areas, the damage left behind by this fire can finally be assessed and it is horrific. The damage significant with the Historic Town of la hina reduced to ashes in many places so far the death toll has grown to 53 people tonight, though, it is expected to rise as fire crews are able to search areas that were initially hard to reach because of the flames. The fires also destroyed more than 1000 structures at this hour. The fire in some spots is said to be very active in crews are still fighting an uphill battle to slow the flames.
