Mind blowing. Reporter grind bartfelt said when he first heard about the fire this morning, he had no idea how bath it would be until 4th arrived on scene. High heart sunk add i saw our building up in flames when i turned the corner. Reporter he building where his family started the business more than 70 years ago appears to be a complete loss. While he hopes insurance will allow them to carry on, right now he says its simply too early to say. When the dust clears, the smoke clears, so to speak, you know, what the obviously big time damage, you know, well cross that bridge when we get to it. Active out there. Reporter and is still very active. But just up to a few minutes ago it looks like theyre putting away the ladder truck that you see right here. They were putting out hot spots for hours. Like i said, just a few minutes ago they started wrapping things up. But there is no word yet on when this fire will be considered contained. I had never seen a city fire spread this fast before. It was amazing. Reporter huge plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky as flames burned six buildings in san franciscos intermission district. The flames were three times as high as the building was. I mean it was fully engulfed back there. Reporter firefighters said the fire started on erie street, the backside of a wholesaler that sells steeled fabricated building supplies. In 10 minutes the whole building was gone. Reporter bruce bartfelt tells me the business was started by his father 75 years ago. This is what it looked like before the fire. And its right it was hard to miss it 30 foot tall statue here right behind me and now its replaced with a sign from the city the city letting people know this morning why they decided to remove that statue again were going to show you what it looks like here before it was removed. You can see this sir Francis Drake statue it had been here for many years i talked to residents in the area this morning. We were confused as to why was in here this morning. They are so used to seeing on their morning jog. Now people have been calling for the removal of the metal statue for weeks protesters said they wanted the statue gone because sir Francis Drake was a slave trader. Now theres a sign left by the city like i mention that says they temporarily remove the statue in response to demonstrators saying they were going to remove the statue them sales and so the city wanted to make sure they removed it before that happened now a petition on change dot org had rec

They would normally get on a summer day. But that is okay because a lot of people have been waiting. You have to buy tickets in advance. The zoos funds have been drained during the shut down and Officials Say the reduced ticket revenue still will not be enough to cover costs. Our own frank mal coat has a live report for us.
