This was obviously a very different sort of coming out for the chief. The mayor said i love this city and today a different tone giving the circumstances in which tony chaplin took the office. Here is what he had to say. Reporter it was hard because a young lady lost her lives and some officers lives have been turned upside down and i watched a person dedicated over three decades of their lives. Reporter so that was tony chaplins reaction. He did speak to former chief greg suhr by telephone. He said that there was not a lot said in the conversation but chief suhr said take the reins and lead the department where it is supposed to go.
