Lets take a look. You can see what it looks like. It houses 200 beds and has a communal area and restrooms in between. There is an administrative building on the campus. It looks like a giant white tent or dome. It takes up a corner of a parking lot on beale and bryant street. It is owned by the port of San Francisco. The first residents will start moving in by the end of the month. This is about helping people not only off the streets but helping them into housing and helping them with opportunities to succeed in life. This is one of seven Navigation Centers in San Francisco. A few more on the way. The mayor says the goal is to have 1000 shelter beds in the city by the end of next year. Right now they are about halfway there. They say the goal of the shelters is to transition people out of homelessness. She and other city leaders faced stiff opposition from neighbors who have expressed concerns about crime and other concerns around the shelter like this. The group spent nearly a quart
