He rocky fire has crossed this ridge in the last ten minutes, moving to the northwest, and an intense air assault is underway. With tankers dropping water and fire retardant on this fastmoving blaze. Far from here the fire continues to march north with a vengeance. 2,000 firefighters from across the state trying to prevent this intense blaze from jumping highway 20. So far that battleline has not been crossed. Backfires have been set to prevent the spread. Hundreds of worried results needed more information and went to a Community Meeting at Lower Lake High School to get updates from calfire on this blaze. Live, from the cbs bay area studios. This is kpix5 news. They just cant catch a break in lake county tonight, another wild fire is spreading dangerously fast across the bone dry landscape. Im brian hackney. Im juliette goodrich. This one is called the peterson fire. It erupted late this afternoon near the town of kelseyville on the west side of clear lake. The flames have raced across at least 400 acres since then. Cal fire has called in three helicopters. Seven air tankers an more than 200 firefighters to get control of it before it can spread to nearby neighborhoods. So far, no evacuations have been ordered, but people who live in the area are understandably nervous. Very concerned, upset, and wondering what is going on. It is really pretty pathetic and sad. There have been three huge fires lately. And yeah. It is scary for peoples property, the animals. Very concerned. His day would be over. He gets it fired. Hes going to try to drive it back onto pit road. Continues to have trouble keeping it going. It wont recycle. And hours after this fireball in the east bay crews remain at the scene tonight as an unstable crane has residents on edge. Its scary. The fire starte around 5 00 this morning at a construction site that has now burned twice in one year. 18 hours later the fire is still smoldering in some spots, and theres also an unstable crane in the middle of the burn area.
