Reporter they are one of the many local agencies with firefighters and fire engines out in Northern California near fresno battling fires away from home and it isnt even considered peak fire season right now. But cal fire says this summer has proven to be one of the more difficult summers across the state when it comes to wildfires. A lot of help has been called. As of yesterday, 12,000 firefighters were battling 17 wildfires in california. Half called in from fire districts across the state. Alameda county fire says its all hands on deck during these times. Live, from the cbs bay area studios. This is kpix5 news. They just cant catch a break in lake county tonight, another wild fire is spreading dangerously fast across the bone dry landscape. Im brian hackney. Im juliette goodrich. This one is called the peterson fire. It erupted late this afternoon near the town of kelseyville on the west side of clear lake. The flames have raced across at least 400 acres since then. Cal fire has called in three helicopters. Seven air tankers an more than 200 firefighters to get control of it before it can spread to nearby neighborhoods. So far, no evacuations have been ordered, but people who live in the area are understandably nervous. Very concerned, upset, and wondering what is going on. It is really pretty pathetic and sad.
