The rocky fire is advancing in ways described as historic and unprecedented. Its jumped north across highway 20 and there is an aggressive battle underway to keep it from spreading to other counties. According to cal fire, the fire blackened 60,000 acres has destroyed two uz duzen homes and two other structures. That doesnt not include what you see in this coverage late today. Wayne, well start with you from the fire line. Reporter the fire is moving so fast we cant keep up. Two hours ago, were three miles down the road. This is a place you can see here that is all the way across the horizon. There is another flare up that started over there. So there is fire burning everywhere in this county. Live from the cbs bay area studios this is kpix5 news. Tonight caught on tape a man dragged out of a car in sunnyvale, then seconds later. Betty yu is at the tracks and has more video of this very close call, betty. Reporter ken, the drama started when a black car crashed and got stuck on the tracks you see behind me here on mary street and two men happened to be in the right place at the right time. In this Youtube Video you can see one deputy pulling the man in the light colored pants out of the car. You can hear the sound of the oncoming train. Seconds later the train smashes right into the car knocking it off the tracks. The deputy watched it all as he drags the driver to safety. Watch again. The driver stumbles to the ground as the deputy pulls him to the curb. His deputies it did not hesitate. They acted. Had they not acted, who knows what would happen . I believe because of their actions this person is alive today. Reporter what you didnt see in the video is that a second deputy

The rocky fire is now consumed 6 thousand acres. The fire is just 12 contained. 13,000 people in three counties are now under orders to evacwait after the fire jumped highway 20 and now covers more than 97 square miles. Thats about the size of the cities of sacramento. Cate cauguiran reports now from lake county. Reporter frank, maria, this is prime time for firefighters right now. Its cooler out. Theres more humidity. So right now ground crews are trying to get to the fire line while they still have access. Meanwhile Law Enforcement is still working to evacuate all the families that are in this area but still some are not leaving just yet. Were just waiting and watching
This is the northern flank of the fire. This is the area where firefighters were hoping to hold the flames. 15 minutes that way and beyond into the smoke there is a battle going on to try to put out the spot fires and another fire that has been working its way up the ridge across highway 20.
