Middaugh said that restaurant staff persuaded the group to leave, and police arrived shortly after. No arrests were made, and Wheeler does not intend to press any charges against the person who touched him. Given the tenor of political discourse nationally and locally, it’s not unusual for people to confront the Mayor and other elected officials in public, wrote Middaugh. It’s part of the job.

Updated January 6 At a Jan. 1 press conference, a visibly angry Mayor Ted Wheeler denounced radical antifa and anarchists and pledged a zero-tolerance policy for property destruction, following the continual vandalism of Portland businesses by protesters. In 2018, the bank foreclosed on the Kinneys. Two brothers, Roman and Edward Ozeruga, bought the house at an auction.
In 2020, after the sheriff s office attempted to evict the family in September, William Kinney III, who goes by William Nietzche, called for an Occupy Wall Street -style encampment.
