Alabama is the 37th state in the U.S. to legalize medical marijuana.More than a dozen conditions, including cancer, a terminal illness, depression, epilepsy, panic disorder and chronic pain would allow a person to qualify.Ivey released this statement after signing Senate Bill 46:“Signing SB 46 is an important first step. The Lister Hill Center for Public Health Policy at UAB published a report showing that most Alabama doctors who responded to a survey support the legalization of medical marijuana.
Alabama lawmakers are considering a bill to legalize and regulate the production and use of medical cannabis products. The bill is expected to come up for a vote before the legislative session ends May 17.
