Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Turn it into a hourslong relaxing brunch with cocktails, and I’m in heaven. I’m even fond of the times in college where the dining halls served “brinner,” or breakfast for dinner, during finals. Chicken and waffles or a burger topped with a fried egg give me any food that’s remotely like a breakfast item, and I’ll eat it.

Beer isn’t just for drinking. Not only can the beverage be used to enhance the flavors of more savory dishes like stews, batters and breads, but it also can transform into a refreshing desert. Frisco’s Outer Range Brewing Co. has new beer soft serve ice cream that marries its unique offerings with the cool treat.
However, this isn’t simply a stout float that has a scoop of vanilla ice cream sitting in a pint glass. The brewery has a special Below Zero soft serve machine that uses a liquid nitrogen mix to freeze the alcohol which has a lower freezing point than water and give it the right consistency. Brewery co-founder Lee Cleghorn first had it at Mikerphone Brewing in Chicago a couple of years ago, and then his wife and co-owner Emily Cleghorn had it at breweries in Florida over the past year.

I haven’t been skiing since Keystone Resort’s closing day on April 11. Even though there’s still time left in the season, I’ve unfortunately been timing the weather wrong. I accidentally make other plans when we get a surprise snowstorm and find myself free to ski when it’s uncharacteristically warm. I was extremely envious about the storm that came in Monday, May 10.

I noticed something peculiar while browsing Facebook the other day: events for live music indoors. Concerts weren’t unheard of over the past year, but I don’t recall seeing so many advertised at once. It’s a sign that people want to get out in the community again and that coronavirus case numbers and vaccination rates are improving.
