Winter weather advisory in effect for lassen, plumas, and sierra counties from 10 pm wednesday until noon thursday. Up to 4 of snow is possible and Winter Driving conditions are expected above 5000. A fastmoving, but intense storm system will bring wind, rain, and snow to the area through thursday. Wind will be gusty, especially east of the sierra crest through the evening hours. Rain will develop in the sierra and change over to snow below 7000 after sunset, and around the tahoe basin before midnight. Snow levels will drop to valley floors before sunrise, bringing the possibility of a few slushy inches for the morning commute. Snow levels will rise on thursday and showers will diminish by evening. Dry, mild weather will return friday through early next week. Jeff blowing dust and debris, tree and fence damage, and Power Outages are all possible. Up to 4 of snow is possible and Winter Driving conditions are expected above 5000. A fastmoving winter storm will approach the region on wednesday, with a cold front moving through wednesday night into early thursday morning. Wednesday will be windy, with damaging wind possible along the sierra front, especially south of highway 50. A brief period of heavy precipitation is expected with the front, bringing Winter Driving conditions to the high sierra wednesday evening, lake tahoe before midnight, and western nevada foothills by thursday morning. Not much accumulation is expected with this storm for valley floors of western nevada.
