LAKELAND Lakeland officials have all but indicated they would be in favor purchasing all new body and in-vehicle dashboard cameras for the Lakeland Police Department.
The commissioners decision to move a step closer to purchasing cameras was undoubtedly influenced by the positive experiences shared by Chief Jeff O Dell, of Kissimmee Police Department, and Lt. Allan Kolak, of Cape Coral Police Department during a meeting last week. Anytime [officers] are out in public we want body cameras on, Odell said at the meeting, which was held Friday morning. Part of selling it was highlighting positive interactions.
The Kissimmee Police Department will share videos of its officers stopping to help community members - like fixing a child s bike - on social media, according to Odell.

After being sworn in as Roselle s new mayor on Monday, David Pileski said he wants to guide the village through the COVID-19 pandemic and build for the community s future.
The 29-year-old former village trustee won a three-way race to replace departing Mayor Andy Maglio, who decided not to seek reelection after one term. Maglio also served on the planning and zoning commission for 24 years and as a trustee for eight years.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Leaders with Osceola County Public Schools met with law enforcement on Thursday to discuss the recommendations of a resident advisory committee.
The School Resource Officer Citizens Advisory Task Force was formed after cellphone video captured an Osceola County deputy slamming a Liberty High School student to the ground in January.

The group finalized a list of 20 recommendations last month, however Thursday’s conversation was mainly focused on the topic of exploring a guardian program in charter schools.
