He was charged in federal court and got probation after arguing it was self defense. Well that letter is four pages long, and a lot of it is based on those racist and homophobic Text Messages that was part of a joint operation and investigation by not only the fbi, but also county prosecutors. Now civil rights attorneys have also filed their own lawsuits. John burris, who wrote the letter, represents 13 plaintiffs, but he says hes interviewed more than 140 people who have stories of mistreatment, including being wrongfully detained, arrested physically beaten, illegally searched or intimidated.
