The afternoon. We mentioned yesterday it was a cool summers end, a little below average now. We had above average, 80 degrees for today and tomorrow. But we cool back down as we head into friday and well continue dropping our temperatures into saturday and sunday. So, it should be comfortable for the papal visit. High pressure is in control because were not seeing a lot of anything really. A few clouds in south jersey and the shoreline. And as we head into the rest of today well see lots of sunshine. Im tracking a fall warmup, a cooler weekend, then a look at the papal visit. Lets chat with first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Before that, the pope spent part of the morning at the white house. This ceremony on the south lawn was reserved for visitors but clouds were lined up leading to the white house. The pope gets a version of the ceremony in every country he visits. Frin s the pope was greeted by president obama and the first lady. Then the leader of the Catholic Church walked to the podium. The president officially welcomed the pope who addressed 2 crowd in english, one of the few times he will do so during this trip to the u. S. Your holiness, your words and dee deeds, you set a profound moral example and in these gentle but firm reminders of our obligations to god and to one another, you are shaking us out of our complacency. American catholics are committed to building a society which is truly tolerant and inclusive to safeguarding the rights of individuals and communities and to reject every form of injustice and discrimination. School board. So we should all be proceed of that and i want to acknowledge matt haney for coming into this family of elected School Board Members and hopefully you will get the spirit of all of this. And i would say one last not last thing, but one more thing. The last six months, i have to say that its been a political process. There was a lot of tensions and im real thankful that my three colleagues who were running for reelection are reelected. They won reelection pretty readily despite opposition. I just want to say one thing about this, lets move on and really all focus. Focus on our students and just move on. I hope to continue my interest in supporting our Public Schools despite all the range of new issues, i must respond to at city hall. Just one sad thing and i wish i had a little more time to accomplish its going to be on tonights agenda as first reading. Its an opportunity for us to make a statement that we do care about people who live in the city. We do care about people
