Mona Lisa Ristorante: A new choice for excellent Italian food (Dining Out Review)

Solvay, N.Y. There are a lot of Italian restaurants in this area, so one might wonder whether we need another. If the additional choice is as good as Mona Lisa’s, our answer is an emphatic YES!
After containing Morgan’s Restaurant for decades, the pretty house at 329 Fay Road in Solvay became Mona Lisa Ristorante at an awkward time. Opening about six months before COVID hit, building a new business has to have been an uphill climb. Given the quality we found, the newish restaurant owned and operated by the Corless family deserves every success.

Mattydale, N.Y. Did any restaurant need another challenge this year? Certainly not. But Thai Love New York in Mattydale is turning out exceptionally good Thai dishes in the face of not just the pandemic but also a car accident in January that made their dining room temporarily unusable.
So we put off our in-restaurant dining once more to see how the restaurant we first reviewed in 2018 was handling the double challenge that has turned the place into a delivery- and takeout-only spot for now.
Sumera: A tiny change in name but the same great flavors (Dining In Review)

Syracuse, N.Y. For what we hope will be our final takeout review for a while, we returned to the pretty little Iraqi restaurant in Westvale Plaza that was Sumer when we reviewed it in late 2017. Since then, the owners have added an “a” to the name, but little else has changed.
We are thankful for that.
With a broad menu offering food from across the region, starters are a particularly interesting section of the menu with choices ranging from $3.99 to $16.99 for a large platter. We started with chicken wings ($4.49 for five/$7.49 for ten), hummus shawarma ($7.99), and “potatoes chops” ($5.99).
