Market Diner still serving excellent diner food via takeout (Dining In Review)

Syracuse, N.Y. It’s been nearly four years since we reviewed the Market Diner at Syracuse’s Regional Market. While we miss both the market’s stalls crowded with fresh veg and friendly people and the welcoming atmosphere of the diner, enjoying the restaurant’s generous portions of good food is still possible through takeout.
Unlike in the Before Times, the diner’s full menu is not available, though we had been told on an earlier call that it was. To find out what is available, we needed to bypass the menu on the diner’s own website and go to the one listed on Grubhub. (Delivery is available through several services, but we prefer to order and pick up ourselves directly from the restaurant so our food passes through fewer hands.)

Syracuse, N.Y. For several months now, the three restaurants under the umbrella of owners Max and Pook Chutinthranond Lemongrass, Bistro Elephant and Citronelle have offered a single limited, blended menu for takeout.
While the elegance of the restaurants’ settings is as unlikely to be imitated at home as the artful desserts are to retain their beauty on the road, we were able to select dishes that we expected would travel well from a menu of nine starters/salads ($8.50-$15.50), and 19 curries, steaks and other mains ($28-$42).
