Kopelman has the latest. This was a really rare situation and in which the dynamics werent really there to support a tornado touching down. However there was just enough spin in the mid levels of the atmosphere that supported this funnel cloud developing. There was a report it touched down which did lead to a tornado warning. It included the another part of linn county and that led to tornado sirens sounded across the entire county which is the only way the Emergency Management can sound those sirens thats why you may have heard them in cedar rapids. This was a weak funnel cloud and weak tornado and no damage was record. Two wooden poles are ready to stand in for it but that requires uses these ropes to pull high power lines, but to do that repairs have to be done and a freeway closed.
