The Organ Chip-based drug testing ecosystem established by the collaboration greatly streamlines the process of evaluating the safety and efficacy of existing drugs for new medical applications, and provides a proof-of-concept for the use of Organ Chips to rapidly repurpose existing drugs for new medical applications, including future pandemics. Baby Selin was born at Royal Bolton Hospital on March 3, weighing 9lb, to mum Suzan and dad Faith. Midwife Celena Biggs has worked at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust for 10 years, starting as a healthcare assistant before qualifying as a midwife two and a half years ago. She supported mum Suzan Selcuk through her labour, who was anxious about giving birth. She was so grateful for the care and compassion she received that she called her little girl Selin.
