jacqui jeras for a look at our forecast. it is the calm before the storm. you can feel the breeze, but the temperatures are wartake a look at this please stand by accident thank you very much jacqui. this month has seen a lot of weather that is wild. crocs people have seen snows record highs and even tornadoes. jummy olabanji spoke to residents in our area about how they are dealing with changing weather. in a few days, it will be february the middle of winter, but this weather feels like anything but that. i am loving that. he was one of the many taking advantage. oxygen back is not minding the say temperatures will be 25 degrees above average in many areas which is hard to believe since we saw ice and snow just days ago. yesterday they were in their heavy coats and by the time we got home overnight severe storms pounded states. high wind and falling trees destroyed homes and cars, and many are dealing with major flooding in crews are bracing for a full winter

we will talk with jay in just a moment but we want to go to our senior meteorologist with what we can expect right now the good news is that the tornado watch has been cancelled. no threat of tornadoes. but after the rain we had this is a major january storm. here are the areas that are under a flash flood warning which includes the entire metropolitan area, especially the folks west and north. that is until 4:00 in the morning. this will be extended right through the morning rush hour. you can see the areas of yellow from montgomery county frederick county, and numerous reports of streams and flooded roadways. st. mary s county has it has yet to see its first drop of rain. already, we have had 2 inches to 3 inches of rain through much of the metropolitan area. this has been moving slower than i thought. it probably will not be drying out or ending until 3:00 to 5:00 in the morning. that means expect major delays. and really a lot of cancellations also appear the mornin

i ve been looking at the observations through kentucky and it has not been able to produce over 2 inches in any location. we re thinking here it could be a dusting to maybe an inch, but i would not be shocked if a couple spots fluff up into a couple inches. that s the system we re watching, a clipperlike system, very dry air overhead, not as cold as some of the last couple systems that came through for us on the ground. i think this quick burst of snow may slow you down a little bit in the morning. let s talk about again light snow expected for the morning commute. it will begin before the commute, too by the way, minor accumulations, grass, perhaps sidewalk. in terms of sticking on the roadways, i know they re scrambling some trucks. a lot of the heavy rain yesterday got rid of the chemicals on there. this thing will be gone way before noon, probably on the eastern shore by 9:00 and then get ready for the bitter wind chills and real strong wind again tomorrow. it could be a
