Grand Forks students win honors at state leadership and skills conference

Students in technical and career programs compete in nationally sponsored SkillsUSA competition Written By: Pamela D. Knudson | 3:00 pm, May 14, 2021 × Students at Grand Forks Central and Red River high schools earned honors in competitive events at the North Dakota SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference recently in Bismarck, according to the Grand Forks school district. SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves students in trade, industrial, technical and health occupation programs in public high schools, career and technical centers and schools, and two-year colleges. The students who placed in the SkillsUSA competitive event categories each received a medal. They included Grand Forks Central High School students Mark Cabunsura, third place in computer programming; and Sophia Pringle, Reyna Lindquist and Jakob Stevenson, who placed first, second and third, respectively, in technical drafting.

Grand Forks high school students named district nominees for U S Presidential Scholars Program

Grand Forks students make up half of total statewide nominations Written By: Pamela D. Knudson | 6:00 am, Dec. 16, 2020 High school students in Grand Forks and Leeds, N.D., have been named as district nominees for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Program. The Grand Forks Central High School nominees are Baylor Anttila, Dennis Du, Haley Gereau, Anton Golovko, Jacob Hanson and Jakob Stevenson. Red River High School nominees are Alexandra Anderson, Derek Chaves, Broden Diederich, Ella Fosse, Nabeel Hossain and Theodore Tchomakhidze. Kearan Nelsen, a student at Leeds High School, is among the 22 statewide nominees, according to the North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education.
