New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI) Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday said an impression should not be created that the reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies was only on paper, dismissing Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi's remarks on the issue.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday asserted that his duty was to defend the Constitution and people's rights, not to defend any individual, including Prime Minister Modi. Dhankhar's statement came in response to Kharge's accusations over the Manipur issue.
Dhankhar succeeds the very popular Venkaiah Naidu. He defeated Opposition s Margaret Alva to emerge as a winner for the post of Vice President. He has the highest winning margin in the last six vice presidential elections held since 1997.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday came down heavily on Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, accusing him of transgressing constitutional norms and not providing information sought by him.
