Everybody well that i hope you joining us is Phillip Carter senior fellow and tractor of military veterans and Society Program at the center for a new american security. His research focuses on issues that face veterans and military personnel for structure and readiness issues and Civil Military relations. His most recent article what america owes its veterans was published in this Current Issue of Foreign Affairs magazine. Serving in iraq from 2052 times to 2006 as an adviser to the state Department Provincial Reconstruction Team mr. Carter returned home to an increasing involvement in Veterans National affairs. As a civilian he is worked in the year as an attorney and business adviser and is currently teaching as an adjunct professor of law at georgetown university. Mustve been in the 1990s, a little while after brother cornel came to princeton, and we were together in faculty, seminars a think under the auspices of the center for human values that we didnt know each other very well. We would just say hello. We interacted a a bit in the seminars. We began teaching together in 2007 and is a whole story behind that. I dont know if you want me to go into that kind of detail but thats what our Teaching Partnership and friendship really began to how did that Teaching Partnership began . From the storm could continue through the weekend. Many people believe the hurricane is over. That at this moment, there are people who are being rescued from their rooftops. There are people being rescued from floods. Reporter pulled from homes ripped open by the wind, pieces twisted and tossed aside. Trees and power poles snapped, wires tangled like yarn. There is no electricity on the island right now. And little, if any, running water. I think we have to understand the gravity of the situation. The infrastructure of puerto rico is so weak that its going to take a really long time. Reporter the airport has opened but only for military and other rescue and relief missions. I walked to the end of the hallway to jades room. She was still unpacking and in deep conversation about which things her mom would have to take back to new york with her. I returned to my room and flopped down on the belled. I had no television on the bed. I had no television or radio. I listened to the conversations through the paper thin walls.
