She received her masters degree in womens studies from Eastern Michigan University and her doctorate from Iowa State University in agricultural history and rural study, author of three books, the homefronts of iowa 19301945, the forgotten generation American Children in world war ii and the the depression dilemmas in rural iowa. Ossian has now directed her Research Interests in exploring hoovers post war food relief efforts.
