Florida State’s Track & Field teams will be well represented at the NCAA East Regional being held at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville from Wednesday-Saturday. FSU will have 25 student-athletes competing in 20 events with 13 qualifiers from the men’s team in nine events and 12 from the women’s team in 11 events. “The old timers refer to this meet as the East Region championships, but it’s truly the first round of the NCAA National Championships,” FSU Head Coach Bob Braman said. “How you perform here sets the fields for Nationals and that’s key for getting in good lanes and the best heats and flights for the NCAA Championship in two weeks. “So, job one is to finish in the Top 12 of your event and advance to the final round in Austin, but you need to be at your best no matter what.” The East Regional is one of two in the country with qualifiers from the western portion of the U.S. competing at Sacramento State. RALEIGH, N.C. Florida State men’s field specialist Jeremiah Davis and women’s sprinter Dajaz DeFrand were named the ACC Most Valuable Performers in their respective categories following the outdoor championships last week at NC State.
DeFrand, a freshman competing in her first outdoor conference meet, was the ACC Champion in both the 100 and 200 meters leading to her selection as the ACC Women’s Track Most Valuable Performer.
Davis, who is among the favorites for the NCAA Championship in both the long and triple jump, won the ACC title in the long jump and was second in the triple en route to being named the ACC Men’s Most Valuable Performer. Davis was also the MVP of the ACC Indoor Championships earlier this year.
The Seminoles took home seven individual ACC Championships over the three-day conference meet. In addition to the three won between the MVPs, Amir Willis was the ACC men’s 100 meter champion, Milton Ingraham won the discus, Alexandra Webster finish
RALEIGH, N.C. The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships came down to the final race to determine both the men’s and women’s champions. Florida State’s men held the slimmest of leads over Clemson with only the 4x400 relay left. Unfortunately, Head Coach Bob Braman wouldn’t have his normal relay team as injuries suffered during the championship to three of the stalwarts meant FSU’s final race would have just one experienced member on the team. FSU fought, just as they had the entire meet on both the men’s and women’s side, but the fourth place relay finish was not good enough to hold onto the championship trophy and the men finished as ACC runners-up by a single point. The Seminole women also had an outstanding conference championship finishing fourth. “It was just a tremendous ACC Championship, one of the best ever,” said Braman. “I am so proud of both our teams. We fought so hard and overcame some really tough breaks with the injuries, but I can’t

Amir Willis blistered the Wolfpack track to win the preliminary heats of the men’s 200 meters with a time of 20.46. He will be joined in the finals by teammate Ismael Kone who placed seventh overall with a time of 20.94. Denzell Feagin’s time of 21.00 put him just out of the upcoming final in ninth place, and Taylor Banks was clocked at 21.21 for 12th place.
2023 ACC Indoor Performer of the Year Jeremiah Davis emerged from the men’s long jump preliminary flights as the favorite with a field-leading 7.94 meter leap. Teammate Curtis Williams will also compete in the finals having finished sixth with a leap of 7.50 meters.
Dajaz DeFrand’s time of 23.11 in the women’s 200 meters was second best among th
