CRYSTAL FALLS –Thomas G. Brooks Jr. passed away on March 10, 2021. He was born on April 30, 1920, in Crystal Falls, to the late Bessie and Thomas G. Brooks Sr. He moved to Stambaugh at the age of two with his parents and graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1938. Immediately after graduation he started two years of apprenticeship in the funeral business with Mr. Fransher at the Stambaugh Funeral Home. In 1940 he attended the Cincinnati College of Embalming in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated in 1941. Tom was married to the former Kathryn McLaughlin on July 25, 1943, in Miami. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1999, and they were married for 56 years. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Doris (James) Matthews and niece, Marion Matthews Chubb.

Feb 6, 2021 IRON RIVER Ginger H. LaRock, 76, of Iron River, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born on Nov. 9, 1944, in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late Wesley and Marie (DeBaeker) Tuominen. Ginger attended the Crystal Falls schools, graduating from Crystal Falls High School with the Class of 1963. Ginger married the love of her life, James LaRock on June 26, 1981, at the First Presbyterian Church. The couple celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in 2020. She was employed as an LPN for Dr. Ray Koivunen for many years. Her patients were drawn to her easy-going demeanor and upbeat attitude. Ginger had a knack for having fun wherever she went, and her infectious laugh was shared with many. She loved going out for dinner, dancing, posting on Facebook, snowmobiling, going to the casino and traveling.
