More than 10,000 people per million people in the Republic of Ireland have tested positive in the last week.
The Republic of Ireland has had 10,100 confirmed cases per million people in the last seven days, according to information compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the World Health Organization, and others, and published by Bloomberg on January 11.

A TOP professor has warned the number of patients in hospitals battling Covid-19 could double to 3,000 by next week - describing the situation as a national emergency .
Prof Alan Irvine said more than 1,500 people are now in hospital with the killer virus compared with 800 during the height of the pandemic in April.

Woman arrested in probe into misappropriation of €1.2m at north Dublin Credit Union

A WOMAN has been arrested as part of a probe into the misappropriation of funds to the value of €1.2millon at a north Dublin credit union.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to the Criminal Justice Act, 2001.

She is currently being detained at Balbriggan Garda Station in Co Dublin.
Cops have said the arrest represents a significant development into fraudulent activity at the financial institution.
Gardai have said investigations are ongoing.
A spokesperson said: Gardai investigating the misappropriation of funds to the value €1.2 million at a North Dublin Credit Union have today, 10/12/2020, arrested a woman on suspicion of offences contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.
