quotes, and if they stop the investigation, that s obviously not doing that. so and i think he s already floated some names of people that, you know, would probably be people who would not, you know, let the investigation go on. having worked in justice, and i m always fascinated by what the line attorneys and the civil servants in that entity are thinking every day, as they watch all of this unfold, eliot. what would be the reaction, i think, do you think in that building, if the president were to get rid of sessions and replace him with someone who is very clear, explicitly tasked with shutting down mueller? as i said, part of what this whole thing stems from is this recusal decision, which was the exercise of sound legal judgment. and i think that what that does is makes attorneys who are doing their jobs and trying to exercise legal judgment feel that the president is now coming after them. it s like an indictment of them, of sorts, for doing their jobs, because at the end of
someone who doesn t give him some sort of loyalty pledge. but you re saying that if he doesn t, if this person doesn t recuse themselves or doesn t say they ll let the investigation go on, that that prompts some sort of crisis? i m not saying he has to recuse himself. the recusal of jeff sessions was absolutely mandatory under department of justice rules. he was involved in the campaign. he was involved in the very conduct that was under investigation. he could not oversee it any more than donald trump can oversee it, despite donald s claim that he can. but even if he doesn t recuse himself does not mean that he has to take away the independence of the special counsel. that has to be permitted. as i say, that s what happened as part of confirming the replacement for elliott richardson. there was a requirement that the investigation continue unimpeded
collusion, and that s where they think the pressure point is for him. harris: so we have michael cohen on one hand, you bring up michael flynn judy: michael cohen is clearly somebody whom the mueller commission thinks they need to do a report and prosecutors want to squeeze so they can get information on the president. whether or not that works, is unclear. harris: and i know that s the reporter on in you that flows to michael flynn. it seems there is so much breaking news, what really is breaking news anymore? harris: well if you are one of the michael s, this is breaking. there is evidence of collision between the trump campaign and the russians which is how all of this started, and as we continue to see this investigation go on, and now we
