Intellijoint Surgical Inc. out of Kitchener is expanding its operation to Japan. The company makes navigation solutions for surgeons conducting knee and hip replacements.
Armen Bakirtzian, co-founder and CEO told 570 NEWS he is excited for the move to another market. The population of Japan makes it attractive for us, the growth rates of joint replacement makes it attractive for us, and the fact that surgical navigation products are reimbursed by the government, so that makes it an easier sell to hospitals as well, so it was a no-brainer to expand to Japan.
Intellijoint is already seeing success in Canada, the United States, and Australia, and did the first hip replacement in February of 2016, with the current version of our product, and five years later we announced our 20,000th hip replacement using the Intellijoint hip technology, said Bakirtzian.
