The chief served as a strong advocate for the federal recognition of the upper mattaponi. In the lead up to 2007, chief adams actively participated in the Jamestown Committee and activities associated. I can say we spent a lot of time together. At various events around the state. His leadership and persistence ensures that commemorative events reflected the respective Indigenous People, their culture, and governments long before the ships arrive to jamestown.
