India saw a single day rise of 702 cases of COVID-19, with the number of active cases of the infection rising to 4,097, the health ministry said today.
JN.1, a sub-lineage within the Omicron variant, is recognized as the predominant strain in the United States, constituting more than 44% of reported cases. Designated as a variant of interest by the World Health Organization (WHO), the increase in cases is under close observation, with particular attention to its swift spread.

A total of 529 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in India during the past 24 hours, bringing the active infections to 4,093. Forty cases of the JN.1 sub-variant were recorded.
