Ninety-two countries have approached India for Covid-19 vaccines, bolstering New Delhi s credentials as the vaccine hub of the world. Highly placed sources said that scores of countries are approaching India, as the word spreads that Indian vaccines are showing negligible side-effects, since the immunization drive in the country began on Saturday.
India is sending its domestically developed vaccines to several neighbouring countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar.

Saturday (16 January) marked a historic day for India as the country kicked off the world s biggest Covid-19 vaccination drive since the outbreak of COVID-19.
The drive began with a frontline sanitation worker at Delhi AIIMS, Manish Kumar, who received the first jab against the deadly respiratory and infectious disease.
Kumar was inoculated in the presence of Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. All India Institute of Medical Sciences Director Dr Randeep Guleria also received the vaccine shot.

A top American Congressman has applauded India for its plans to supply COVID-19 vaccines to its neighbours and partners around the world. Great to see our ally India purchasing and supplying millions of doses of COVID vaccines, manufactured in India, to its neighbours and partner nations around the world, Congressman Brad Sherman said in a tweet. India is one of the world s largest manufacturers of inoculations. In a time of great need for the entire international community, India is stepping up to help the world overcome this pandemic, Sherman said.
India plans to purchase millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses and supply them to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Seychelles and Mauritius.

The Centre has informed all states and union territories that interchangeability of COVID-19 vaccines is not permitted and that the coronavirus vaccination is available only for those above 18 years and won t be inoculated to pregnant or lactating women.
The Union Health Ministry also said if required, COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines should be separated by an interval of at least 14 days.
