The Prime Minister on a visit to aberdeenshire argued todays announcements would help the uk reach its net zero target by 2050 while still backing new oil and gas. Even in 2050, when we are at net zero, it is forecast that around a quarter of our energy needs will still come from oil and gas. Thats why technologies like Carbon Capture and storage are important.
