Chandigarh: The managing director (MD) of a Sector-34 based immigration firm has been booked for allegedly duping a woman from Ludhiana of over Rs 20 .

Probe revealed that it was not a woman but the accused, Puneet, had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of a woman to dupe people and another accused, Rajesh Kumar, went to collect money from the victim. Both the accused are residents of Haridwar.

Representative Image AMBALA: The police have registered an immigration fraud case of Rs 7.10 lakh against a man and his two sons, who allegedly promised the complainant to send him to Australia, but instead sent him to Indonesia. Jarnail Singh of Lakhnaur Sahib village in Ambala district lodged a complaint against three accused Banta Ram and his sons Sanjay Kumar and Sohan Lal of Shankar Colony, Kishanpura, Kurukshetra. On the complaint of Jarnail, the three accused have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC at Ambala Sadar police station on Friday. Jarnail said, “I had paid Rs 7.10 lakh to Banta Ram and his sons Sanjay and Sohan Lal for sending me to Australia, but they instead they sent me to Indonesia. I stayed for about four months in Indonesia and I got ill and for about one-and-a-half months, I stayed in jail. Later, they deported me to India.
