Police: Man slain after exchanging shots with officers

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - A man has died after being shot by a police officer responding to a report of a domestic dispute at a home in northern Illinois. Rockford police say officers heard a disturbance Thursday night and entered the home where they exchanged shots with the man. The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force is investigating the officer's use of force. Rockford is northwest of Chicago and south of the state line with Wisconsin.

Weekend shooting at Grand Tap under investigation

Galesburg police are seeking information into an ongoing investigation of a shooting early Sunday morning. According to the Galesburg Police Department, officers responded at around 1:30 to a shooting at the Grand Tap, located at 2051 Grand Avenue. On scene, several vehicles were located with bullet holes. A short while later, a victim arrived at OSF St. Mary Medical Center's ER with a gunshot wound. The victim was later transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital to treat their injuries. No more details on the victim or their injuries were released. The incident is under investigation and GPD is being assisted by the Illinois State Police, Knox County Sheriff's Office, Abingdon Police Department, and Knox County State's Attorney's Office. One injured, two arrested following weekend shooting in Monmouth

Two people have been arrested after a Saturday morning shooting in the City of Monmouth that left one person injured. According to a release from the Monmouth Police Department, 18-year-old Nathan Perez and 19-year-old Cayden Bell were arrested following an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred at around 3:34 in the area of 522 East Broadway. Bell and Perez are being charged with Attempted Murder and are being held at the Warren County Jail. Monmouth police say that the victim of the shooting, 21-year-old Brock Noles, had two gunshot wounds to his leg and was being treated at OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Monmouth Police are still conducting the investigation into the incident but they say that both suspects are awaiting court appearances and any questions in the case can be directed to the Warren County State's Attorney's Office. Assisting the Monmouth Police Department were members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations TOC West Task Force.
