Karnataka forest department says evictions happening regularly with focus on encroachment of more than 3 acres land, but Ministry’s encroachment figure does not capture that
Congress MP Ravneet Bittu has written a letter to DC Surabhi Malik, urging her to take action against the increasing number of illegal encroachments on government land in Ludhiana. Bittu highlighted that colonizers and land mafias have encroached upon various government properties, including revenue routes, rain drains, panchayat, MC, Ludhiana Improvement Trust, and Glada. He emphasized that these illegal occupations were ongoing without proper facilities such as parking and fire extinguishers. Bittu also claimed that senior government officials were involved in conniving with the developers. He urged the DC to investigate the matter and take strict action against the violators.

The market committee secretary Harinder Singhs said, “We are determined to rectify this issue and a comprehensive drive will be launched soon to rid the market of these encroachments”
