MANISTEE Not all teaching takes place in the classroom.
Shannon Fuller, a K-3 literacy coach with the Manistee Intermediate School District, has been working with the Michigan Learning Channel to create hours of educational programming for the state s young learners. The Michigan Learning Channel provides educational programs for K-3 students that align with the Michigan teaching standards and also with the Michigan Essential Instructional Practices, Fuller said. The programs are great for the students, they re great for families to watch and they would even be a great resource for teachers.

COLONIE The building for kindergarten through third-grade students at Boght Hills Elementary School was closed Thursday after a fire in the building.
Boght Fire Department Chief Jake Oreshan said the cause of the fire was still being investigated later Thursday. The fire started on the stage located in the school’s cafeteria, which suffered “significant damage,” he said.
