LABUAN: The first batch of 2,340 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is scheduled to arrive in Labuan today (Friday).
Labuan Acting Police Chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said the vaccine would be transported by road from Kota Kinabalu and ferried to the duty-free island via the Menumbok ferry terminal at 8am.
“We expect the vaccine to arrive at the Labuan Ferry Terminal around 9.30am, and it will be escorted by traffic policemen to the vaccine storage centre at the Membedai Health Clinic,” he said, Thursday.

The Labuan Health Department has established at least three vaccination centres for Labuan s immunisation programme, which is scheduled to kick off tomorrow (Saturday) at 8am.
KOTA KINABALU (Feb 25): Sabah today received 16,380 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to kickstart the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in the state which will be implemented in the near future.
State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun, who is also state government spokesman on Covid-19, said five more batches of the vaccine would be delivered in stages until April 1.
He said the second batch of 9,360 doses will be delivered on March 4, followed by the third batch of 24,550 doses on March 11, while the fourth batch of 3,510 doses on March 18.
“The fifth batch of the vaccine, a total of 18,720 doses, will be delivered on March 25, followed by the sixth batch of 31,590 doses will be delivered on April 1,” he told reporters after receiving the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines via special aircraft at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) 2 here, at 12.40pm today.
KL, Selangor has high SOP compliance

KUALA LUMPUR – The level of public compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) has reached 96 per cent in all six districts in the federal capital.
Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Saiful Azly said, from Jan 13 until yesterday, only 1,496 compound fines had been issued for various offences.

“A total of 48,440 inter-state travel applications were received and 2,050 applications were rejected due to weak reasons,” he told Bernama today.
Meanwhile, Selangor Police acting chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed when contacted said the state had reached 93 per cent compliance.
“During the period, a total of 136,059 inter-district and inter-state applications were received and a total of 129,214 applications were approved,” he said.

LABUAN: A World War II bomb found in a village area of Simpang 11, Kg Jawa here and was successfully detonated today.
Labuan acting police chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said the bomb, weighing 35kg, was found two metres below the ground by a 50-year-old worker who was doing earthwork in the area at 11 am on Thursday.
“After careful examination, our bomb disposal team confirmed that the object is an unexploded ordnance (UXO),” he told Bernama here.

Mohd Ibrahim said the two-foot-long metal military device was detonated at 12.30 pm at a safer place outside of town.

LABUAN: Police have issued a RM1,000 compound each to 68 people here, with several of them caught travelling from mainland Sabah to the island without permission from the authorities, including via illegal routes.
Labuan acting police chief, DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said these individuals, aged between 20 and 55 years, were fined during a two-week MCO compliance operation since Jan 13.
“They were found to have violated the standard operating procedure (SOP) as mandated by the government during this period,“ he told Bernama today.
Ibrahim said among the other offences committed by the individuals were hanging out and jogging at the beach, not practising physical distancing and not wearing a face mask while being in public places.
