The Hatchets (3-1, 2-1) controlled the game from the opening whistle, hitting shots from the perimeter and limiting Vassar’s offensive opportunities. The Vulcans (4-1, 2-1) labored to keep up with the Bad Axe offense, which used its speed to convert turnovers into easy points. In the first quarter, the Hatchets outscored Vassar 28-4, and Bad Axe led 38-14 heading into halftime.

After leading 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Lakers would go into halftime with a 24-19 lead. Sandusky (1-1) hung around in the third quarter, staying withing striking distance of Laker and trailing 35-28 heading into the fourth. Laker (1-0) would blow the game wide open with a 22-point fourth quarter and lock up the win. Leading the way for Laker was Sawyer Kozfkay with 18 points. Kozfkay was a perfect three-for-three from behind the three-point line. Also making big contributions were Anthony Sheridan with 11 points and Hunter Krohn with 10.
