The Wayne City Village Board met Monday night and approved new rates for garbage pickup, new signs for the community building and park, and new mobile WiFi equipment for the ambulance. The WiFi will make it possible to send medical information to the hospital while en route from rural areas, especially near Orchardville. Board Member Kerry Esmon resigned from the board, effective Thursday. The Albion City Council met last night. The council decided against a donation to Fair Fest, but it did approve Christmas bonuses for city employees in the amount of $300 for full-time employees and $150 for part-time, plus a $20 ham voucher. The three defendants in the murder of Edgewood resident Roger Courson appeared in Clay County Court Monday. 39-year-old Salem resident Jamie Charlton, 30-year-old Edgewood resident Walter West, and 27-year-old Centralia resident Christopher Gallatin are due in court in November for additional proceedings, with West set for a motion hearing on the 8th, Gallatin for a pre-trial conference on the 15th, and Charlton for a pre-trial conference on the 24th. Judge Stanley Brandmeyer found probable cause to hold them over for trial and also granted motions that they provide DNA samples. 58-year-old Sims resident Bradley V. Gammon was sentenced to prison Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty in December to a Class 3 felony count of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine and a Class 4 count of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police. The night will begin with a resolution to approve a contract with Moran Economic Development, possibly to form a business district and to form an overall plan for development. Two Fairfield residents were booked in the Wayne County Jail yesterday after being arrested by county deputies. 45-year-old Jack J. Myers was charged with aggravated assault, and 34-year-old William M. Weccele, Jr., was charged with possession of meth, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm and ammunition without a FOID card. Both were held, pending the setting and posting of bond. Flora police say the issued local ordinance citations for fighting to 30-year-old Danny R. Clevenger, Jr., and 29-year-old Rufus E.
