Early voting begins today for the consolidated election. Early voting in Wayne County can only be done at the courthouse, but County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow says the courthouse will not be a polling place on Election Day. Anyone wanting to vote by mail in the election must request a ballot, as letters will not be sent out as they were in November.
Wayne City Unit 100 plans to hold Kindergarten Registration and Pre-School Screenings March 10
th and 11
th at the Wayne City Baptist Church. People should call 895-3103 to schedule an appointment. The screenings are for children up to five years old who are not attending kindergarten this fall.
The Illinois Eastern Community College Board of Trustees met Tuesday and approved the employment of Amanda Kotch as Coordinator of International Students, Athletics, and Student Activity at Frontier Community College, effective today. Trustees also gave notice of intent to renew the contracts of Chancellor Dr. Ryan Gower and its four college presidents, including FCC President Dr. Jay Edgren.
54-year-old Salem resident Besnik Mehmedi was cited for driving too fast for conditions after a Monday afternoon accident at the intersection of East Main and Northeast Second streets in Fairfield. Police say he was unable to stop and struck a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Charles Wilson, causing him to hit a concrete light pole and periodic light pole.
